Welcome to the Mathematics Department
At Key Stage 3, Mathematics at Foyle College provides students with the foundational skills they need to think logically and apply mathematical principles in everyday life. The course begins with a review of primary school mathematics, ensuring students build confidence before progressing to more complex concepts in preparation for GCSE.
Number & Calculation
Solve numerical problems and perform calculations with and without a calculator, building fluency and confidence.
Algebraic Skills
Form and solve equations, work with formulae, and plot graphs to model real-world situations.
Shape & Space
Explore the properties of 2D and 3D shapes and learn how to accurately calculate areas and volumes.
Data Handling
Collect, analyse, and interpret statistical data while understanding probability in real-life contexts.
GCSE
GCSE Mathematics builds on the foundation established in Key Stage 3, reinforcing key concepts before expanding on them to meet the requirements of the GCSE specification.
