GCSE Music
Key Stage 4GCSE Music provides students with a well-rounded education in Listening, Composing, Performing, and Appraising. Pupils receive six periods per fortnight, covering core components designed to develop both technical skill and creative expression.

Composition & Appraising (Coursework)
Students submit two compositions with a combined duration of 3 to 6 minutes. Pupils have full access to the school's digital recording studio and MAC Suite.

- One based on a stimulus provided by CCEA
Performing & Appraising
Perform individually and as part of an ensemble. Assessed by a visiting examiner. Students may choose any instrument or voice (Classical, Jazz, Rock, etc).
Listening & Appraising
Assessed via an aural perception exam (approx 1 hr 30 mins) covering set works and unfamiliar pieces, applying knowledge from the four areas of study.
A-Level Music
Key Stage 5A-Level Music builds on GCSE study, offering students a deeper understanding of musical composition, performance, and critical analysis. Pupils receive 12 periods per fortnight.
Listening & Appraising
In-depth study of 12 set works across Music for Orchestra, Sacred Vocal, and Secular Vocal Music.
Composing
Advanced composition. Internally assessed and externally moderated. Creating regular submissions throughout the year.
Performing
Prepare and present a performance programme and engage in a post-performance discussion with a visiting examiner.
Extra-Curricular Music
The Music Department offers a rich variety of extra-curricular activities, fostering creativity, teamwork, and performance opportunities.
